Premier League: The “relegation repertoire”

Only two rounds to go. Who will follow Queens Park Rangers and Reading to the second division aka the Championship? Maybe we will know by midweek, but maybe there will be another cup final for Wigan after today’s FA Cup final against Manchester City! The next hours will decide…
Btw: I’m happy that this is a non-West Ham-related post :)

Paul ScharnerStoke are safe on 41 points and a much superior goal difference compared to 18th placed Wigan with 35 points.
But Aston Villa and Fulham sitting 13th and 12th in the table respectively have only 40 points which means that they  (and all the teams below them) can be leapfrogged by Wigan if the Latics win their remaining two games and Aston Villa and Fulham lose theirs.
It’s difficult to say which of the next three games of 18th placed Wigan is their most important one! It would be easy to chose today’s FA Cup final if the Latics weren’t still 3 points behind Newcastle, Norwich and Sunderland with only two games to go after their home defeat to Swansea last weekend.
Playing the FA Cup final today Austrian defender Paul Scharner (pictured) and Wigan will face Arsenal away  not before midweek.
Then the last round will see Wigan host Aston Villa.
This could be a second “cup final” for the Latics if the Villans were still in their reach, depending on the results of Villa v Chelsea and Arsenal v Wigan!
